While I have never personally met Bruce Fein, he is an attorney who has become one of my modern-day heroes. In the post-9/11 environment in which so many lawyers have rolled over and succumbed to the Bush administrations war on terrorism, Fein has been at the forefront of the battle to defend the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the rule of law, habeas corpus, and civil liberties.
Ordinarily, one expects a lawyer who is battling for civil liberties to be a liberal or a libertarian, given that conservatives are traditionally so bad in this area. That’s one of the things that makes Fein so heroic. Hes a conservative and he writes a regular column in the Washington Times, one of the most conservative newspapers in the country. And he is one of the leading figures in America fighting to preserve rights and freedoms whose roots stretch all the way back to Magna Carta.
Bruce is a former associate attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice. A graduate of Harvard Law School with honors, he recently served on the American Bar Associations Task Force on Presidential signing statements. He is frequently quoted in such publications as the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, Newsweek, and the Wall Street Journal. He is a regular guest on the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, and Reuters. He has also been featured on the cover of the American Bar Association Journal, the legal professions most prestigious publication.
Bruce’s book Constitutional Peril: The Life and Death Struggle of Our Constitution and Democracy comes out on April 1. I have already placed my order and I highly recommend that everyone who is concerned about the future direction of liberty in America do the same. Without a doubt, it is going to be one of the best and most important books of our time.
Bruce Fein epitomizes what every lawyer, regardless of political philosophy, should be all about defending individual liberty, fundamental rights, the rule of law, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, especially during times of emergency and peril, when peoples rights are in greatest danger. When the dark days in which we have lived since 9/11 finally pass, Bruce Fein will definitely be one of the reasons that America was able to once again break through to the light.
The title of Bruce’s talk at our upcoming conference will be From Checks and Balances to Executive Despotism. It will definitely be another great highlight of the conference.
The conference will be held on June 6-8 (Friday morning through Sunday night) at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia, one of the nicest areas of northern Virginia. (Its best to fly into Dulles Airport but Reagan and BWI will work as well.) The conference price is $495, which includes all Hyatt Regency meals breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the 3 days of the conference plus admission to all 19 speeches.
To register for the conference, go to our conference website or call us at 703-934-6101. Remember to make your hotel reservations at the Hyatt Regency Reston after you register for the conference; be sure to mention the FFF conference to secure the special discounted rate of $149 per night, which is incredibly cheap for a Hyatt in the D.C. area in June.
Don’t delay! Register today!
