Isnt it fascinating that so many conservatives steadfastly remain committed to the imperial role that the United States now plays in the world, even while claiming to support the limited-government republic of our forefathers?
Hundreds of thousands of imperial troops are stationed on hundreds of military bases in more than 100 countries.
Cities and towns all across America live in desperate fear that they might go belly up if their bases are closed and their military welfare were to come to a halt
Military personnel retire with fat U.S. taxpayer pensions, only to travel a short distance to accept lucrative positions with military contractors who have been on the generous military dole for generations
Arrogant and pretentious pronouncements are issued by U.S. officials on the supposed need to force tens of thousands of young American civilians to patriotically serve the empire through conscription (read: slavery).
Billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars are regularly sucked out of peoples pockets to fund the empire, with no end in sight, especially given the black hole of expenses now arising from the most recent imperial conquest, Iraq.
Foreign pockets and bank accounts are filled with U.S. taxpayer money to ensure loyalty to the empire.
Support is given to brutal, empire-friendly dictatorial regimes all over the world in the name of freedom and democracy.
Deception and fear and welfare are masterfully used to pacify and sedate the citizenry.
Illegal invasions and wars of aggression are mounted against independent and sovereign countries for the purpose of installing friendly political regimes.
And imperial troops, blindly obedient to the orders of their superiors, are convinced in their own minds that theyre doing good in the world, attacking, condemning, killing, and destroying all opposition to the empire, in the name of eradicating evil and establishing peace, order, and stability in the world.
Its all enough to bring to mind what the Empires Darth Vader said to the rebel Luke Skywalker in Star Wars:
“There is no escape. Don’t make me destroy you.
Perhaps thats why conservatives sided with Darth Vader when the Empire struck back against Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and the other terrorist Jedi who were resisting the Empire and attempting to restore the Republic.
