“End the War on Drugs” features Laurence M. Vance (policy adviser for The Future of Freedom Foundation), Ken Williams (LEAP), and Kassandra Frederique (Drug Policy Alliance).

The highlights include:

• Talks focusing on the negative consequences of the drug war.
• Ending the day, the speakers will participate in a Q&A panel discussion.

SPEAKERS

Laurence M. Vance is policy adviser for The Future of Freedom Foundation. He is an author, a publisher, a lecturer, a freelance writer, the editor of the Classic Reprints series, and the director of the Francis Wayland Institute. He is the author of The War on Drugs Is a War on Freedom (soon to be available in ebook format through FFF). He holds degrees in history, theology, accounting, and economics. The author of twenty-four books, he has contributed over 700 articles and book reviews to both secular and religious periodicals. Vance’s writings have appeared in a diverse group of publications including the Ancient Baptist Journal, Bible Editions & Versions, Campaign for Liberty, LewRockwell.com, the Independent Review, the Free Market, Liberty, Chronicles, the Journal of Libertarian Studies, the Journal of the Grace Evangelical Society, the Review of Biblical Literature, Freedom Daily, and the New American. His writing interests include economics, taxation, politics, government spending and corruption, theology, English Bible history, Greek grammar, and the folly of war. He is a regular columnist, blogger, and book reviewer for LewRockwell.com, and also writes a column for the Future of Freedom Foundation. Vance is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Grace Evangelical Society, and the International Society of Bible Collectors, and is an associated scholar of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.

Det. Ken Williams Ken Williams is a former Boston-area homicide detective. Today, Ken is one of the leading Use of Force/Police Reform Experts in the country. Ken is retained by civil rights attorneys to evaluate and render unbiased opinions in officer-involved shootings and other civil/criminal matters. Ken has appeared as a subject matter expert in print and television media in Documentaries such as NBC Peacock Productions “Black and Blue” with Tony Harris, appeared on CNN/HLN as an Expert contributor to the Nancy Grace Show, performed a riveting TEDx Talk titled: ‘Follow-up to Ferguson: Detective’s False Claims Act Lawsuit’ could reform police policy in America,’ was the Use of Force Expert at the 13th annual San Francisco Public Defender’s Justice Summit, held a private training for more than sixty attorneys at the San Francisco Public Defenders Office concerning Expert witness case review analysis, and he provided an unbiased case review of the physical evidence in the Michael Brown Use of Force incident. The Williams analysis of the Brown incident discovered non-public material facts which the SCLC delivered in a letter to the Missouri State Senate Panel tasked with investigating possible prosecutorial misconduct. Mr. Williams has also been featured as a public speaker at law schools and community forums.

Kassandra Frederique is the New York policy manager at the Drug Policy Alliance. She works to build powerful coalitions in communities devastated by drug misuse and the war on drugs. Kassandra currently manages the Fairness and Equity campaign, which is working throughout New York State to end racially biased marijuana arrests and policing practices, as well as to create policy solutions to ameliorate the collateral consequences of criminal justice involvement. Prior to DPA, she served as a social worker in the South Bronx and organized workers in Chicago and New Orleans. Kassandra earned her master’s degree in social work at Columbia University and a B.S. in industrial labor relations at Cornell University.

Jacob G. Hornberger is founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation. He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas, and received his B.A. in economics from Virginia Military Institute and his law degree from the University of Texas. Jacob was a trial attorney for twelve years in Texas. He also was an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas, where he taught law and economics. In 1987, Jacob left the practice of law to become director of programs at the Foundation for Economic Education. He established FFF in 1989 and continues to advance freedom and free markets through his daily blog, articles, ebooks, speeches, and Internet and talk-radio shows.
