Joseph Margulies is one of the nation’s leading attorneys in the defense of civil liberties, especially since 9/11. Future generations of Americans will forever be indebted to him for his courageous and principled stand against kidnapping, torture, rendition, military tribunals, and other “war on terrorism” infringements on liberty and for his ardent defense of such fundamental procedural rights as due process of law, right to counsel, right to confront witnesses, trial by jury, and habeas corpus.
Joe is an attorney with the MacArthur Justice Center and is associate clinical professor at Northwestern Law School in Chicago, one of the top ten laws schools in the country. He was lead counsel in the U.S. Supreme Court of Rasul vs. Bush, which involved detentions at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp, and Habib vs. Bush, which involved the U.S. government’s rendition program. He recently argued the Supreme Court case involving Shawqi Omar and Mohammad Munaf, two American citizens held prisoner in Iraq by U.S. military officials.
His book Guantanamo and the Abuse of Presidential Power is one of the finest, most easy to read, and most passionate summaries of the civil-liberties issues facing our nation. His articles have appeared in such publications as the Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, and Chicago Tribune.
Last year Joe captivated the audience with one of the greatest, most moving talks of the conference. He will undoubtedly do so again. If you’ve never heard a speech by Joseph Margulies, here is an opportunity you should not pass up.
Anthony Gregory is one of the rising stars of the libertarian movement. Ever since he graduated with a degree in history from UC Berkely in 2003, Anthony has been writing some of the greatest, most passionate libertarian articles in the movement, especially on foreign policy and civil liberties.
A winner of the Ron Paul Liberty in Media Award, Anthony works as a research analyst at the Independent Institute, one of the educational foundations that have taken a leading role in the libertarian movement in favor of a non-interventionist foreign policy, especially since 9/11. Anthony also serves as a policy advisor for FFF, where he has contributed many articles.
Anthony’s many articles have appeared in the San Diego Tribune, the Contra Costa Times, Antiwar.com, LewRockwell.com, and others. He also composes and plays music in his band, the Melatones.
A speaker at last year’s FFF conference, Anthony will undoubtedly once again regal the audience with his eloquent and passionate defense of a non-interventionist foreign policy and civil liberties.
To register for the conference, go to our conference website or call us at 703-934-6101. Remember to make your hotel reservations at the Hyatt Regency Reston after you register for the conference; be sure to mention the FFF conference to secure the special discounted rate of $149 per night, which is incredibly cheap for a Hyatt in the D.C. area in June.
Don’t delay! Register today!
