Ever since I discovered libertarianism some 30 years ago, I have dreamed of a “great awakening” in which the American people discover our nation’s libertarian heritage and restore individual liberty, free markets, and a limited-government constitutional republic to our land.
Every day more and more Americans are waking up and discovering that something is wrong in this country. They’re asking questions. They’re challenging long-held statist principles, such as out-of-control federal spending, debt, and inflation. They’re studying and discussing America’s founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
That’s where The Future of Freedom Foundation comes in. Through our print and online publications, our speeches, and our appearances on radio and television shows, we bring people the libertarian principles that are the key to restoring a free, prosperous, peaceful, and harmonious society to our land.
For 21 years, we have stood our ground, refusing to compromise libertarian ideals and principles even one iota. We have stood squarely against the fundamental immorality and destructiveness of every single welfare-state, interventionist, and imperialist program that the statists have foisted on America for the past 100 years.
Everywhere you look, the statist paradigm is in chaos and crisis. Social Security. Medicare. Medicaid. Federal spending. Taxation. The dollar. The Federal Reserve. The FDIC. The drug war. Immigration. Terrorism. Civil liberties. Foreign policy. Iraq. Afghanistan. The list goes on.
Unless there is a drastic change in direction — one toward freedom, free markets, sound money, and a constitutional republic — those adverse consequences will inevitably fall on all of us and our families. We all have a very real stake in the outcome of this ideological battle.
During the past year, we have done our very best to put your donations to FFF to good use — spreading our uncompromising moral, philosophical, and economic perspectives on liberty far and wide.
We kicked off an exciting year with our participation in the annual CPAC convention, where we joined up with the Ron Paul forces to bring libertarian perspectives to conservatives. We have had the good fortune of spreading libertarianism on Judge Andrew Napolitano’s show, “Freedom Watch,” as well as on such international television networks as “Russia Today.” We have participated in debates, panel discussions, speeches, and lectures, including at Purdue University, Beacon College in Florida, and elsewhere.
In conjunction with the student-run GMU Econ Society, we have continued our exciting Economic Liberty Lecture Series at George Mason University, posting the videos of the talks on our website. We have distributed thousands of copies of our booklet “Economic Liberty and the Constitution” to student groups and others all across the country.
We continue striving to make our FFF Email Update, which includes a link to my daily blog, the finest daily libertarian commentary page on the Internet. Our op-eds have been published more than 500 times in newspapers across the land and posted on countless websites on the Internet. From September 2009 to September 2010, 380,594 unique visitors — i.e., different computers — have accessed the website of The Future of Freedom Foundation. We have also significantly raised our profile on the social-network sites, i.e., Facebook and Twitter (please join our FFF Facebook fan page, friend me at my personal Facebook page, and subscribe to my Twitter feed).
Thanks to the great support you gave us, we have been appearing on dozens of radio shows across the country and on the Internet, especially in the weeks preceding the November elections, raising people’s vision to the importance of economic liberty.
We’re launching a brand new website that will enable us to better share our libertarian ideas with others. And get ready for this: I’m hosting a brand new Internet show, “The Freedom Oasis,” where I am spreading pure, unadulterated principles of freedom on Saturday nights, 7-8 pm EST. Once people discover that the solution to America’s woes lies not in reforming socialism, interventionism, and empire but instead casting that bankrupt paradigm into the dustbin of history, that will be the day they join us in restoring the libertarian paradigm of individual liberty, free markets, sound money, voluntary charity, and a limited-government republic to our land.
