This week were spotlighting Laurence Vance and Ted Galen Carpenter, both of whom are among the 24 speakers at our June 1-4 conference Restoring the Republic: Foreign Policy and Civil Liberties at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Reston, Virginia.
If there was ever a person who reflected the genuine patriotism of standing for what is morally right, even if that means opposing a wrongful war, that person is Laurence Vance. A devout Christian, Vance has resisted the siren call of popular acceptance and instead responded to the dictates of his conscience by steadfastly opposing the invasion and occupation of Iraq. His book Christianity and War and Other Essays Against the Warfare State should be read by everyone who believes that when mans laws collide with Gods laws, it is the duty of the Christian to fulfill Gods laws.
As vice president for defense and foreign-policy studies at the Cato Institute and the author of seven books, Ted Galen Carpenter ranks among the most knowledgeable foreign-policy experts in the nation. He has long been one of my libertarian heroes for his steadfast and principled opposition to the U.S. governments pro-empire, pro-interventionist foreign policy. If we are ever able to get our nation back on the right track with respect to foreign policy, the reasoned and dispassionate foreign-policy insights and analyses of Ted Galen Carpenter will undoubtedly have played a major role in that achievement.
Less than a month-and-a-half left to go for the conference! We hope you will join Laurence Vance, Ted Galen Carpenter, and the 22 other speakers in what we hope will be one of the most important and exciting events in the history of the libertarian movement. The registration price is $495, which includes all 10 meals at the Hyatt Regency Reston, where the conference is being held.
