We are very pleased and honored to announce that The Future of Freedom Foundations website (www.fff.org) and two articles published by FFF have received awards from Congressman Ron Paul. The awards were announced in a new book entitled The Ron Paul Liberty in Media Awards 2002. Our website received the award for outstanding website and the two articles that received recognition and inclusion in Congressman Pauls book were A Coming Assault on Rights of Citizens by Sheldon Richman and Expansionism: State Terrorism and Bushs War by James Bovard.
Given that Congressman Paul is one of the most dedicated and principled proponents of liberty in our lifetime, these awards are the biggest honor that FFF has received since our founding in 1989.
The book also includes articles by Walter Williams, Ralph Raico, Doug Bandow, Lew Rockwell, Joe Sobran, Jeff Tucker, Dave Barry, Justin Raimondo, Paul Craig Roberts, Walter Block, and many more. It can be purchased for $25 at Congressman Pauls Texas office: 837 W. Plantation Dr., Clute, Texas 77531; 1-800-RonPaul (1-800-766-7285).

CONGRESSMAN RON PAULS INTRODUCTION
TO THE RON PAUL LIBERTY IN MEDIA AWARDS 2002
The Ron Paul Liberty in Media Awards (RP/LIMA) contains what I believe are some of the best and most stimulating articles about liberty and its evolution in the United States published on the Internet and in various print journals throughout a given year. It also recognizes some of the most outstanding personalities, journals and books involved with liberty issues in that year.
Putting so much commentary together in once place has a certain power. One may be dismayed by the gathering drumroll of receding freedoms catalogued by these articles. Reading one or two may incite passion or frustration reading so many may give the reader a sense of the enormity of what must increasingly be seen as a concerted effort to regulate and police most every aspect of a citizens economic and private life.
The American conversation about liberty, gathering energy every day on the Internet, is not unique other countries and other eras have evoked similar conversations. But the American conversation may have special poignancy because the Republic in which we live was set up to respect liberty and fundamental economic law. In this sense, the articles in LIMA, like thousands of other articles now appearing on the Net, may be seen as bearing witness to what may be the gradual collapse of this experiment.
Ultimately, the struggle is between those who proclaim the efficacy of public policy and the endless expansion of public service and unlimited as opposed to limited government, and those who trust in the free markets and individual initiative. History shows us repeatedly that without the recognition of private property, society disintegrates. Lack of respect for private ownership and markets has repeatedly ruined civilization. Bearing witness is vital. It is only forceful communication, the direct and repeated insistence on individual initiative human action that society may eventually be organized to allow everyone to reach maximum potential. Those who participate in this book are both bearing witness and speaking out; by bringing their words to you, we recognize their efforts, however modestly on these pages. Ron Paul, January 2002
