“It may be illegal for the American people to donate more than $1,000 of their own money to a presidential candidate but it’s apparently not illegal for Bill Clinton to do so. Clinton is spending considerably more than $1,000 — $77 million to be exact — to help presidential candidates in Yugoslavia defeat the country’s current president, Slobodan Milosevic, in that country’s upcoming election. Yes, I know what you’re thinking: Why in the world is our government interfering with the presidential election in another nation, and with money that has been taken from the American people by the IRS? (Wasn’t everyone not so long ago whining about China spending money to influence our presidential election?) Well, perhaps the answer is that if our government has the right to bomb the Yugoslavian people when their president misbehaves, why shouldn’t it also has the right to interfere with their political process? After all, we are the world’s only remaining superpower, aren’t we? In the meantime, the Yugoslavian government has indicted Bill Clinton for war crimes stemming out of Clinton’s intentional targeting and killing of civilians during the U.S. government’s bombing campaign against Yugoslavia. So far, no word on how Clinton intends to plead to the charges but perhaps he’s hoping that the $77 million he’s spending to get his man into power will be repaid in the form of a pardon for the war crimes.”
