CIA Secrecy on JFK Points to Criminal Culpability

by
More than 30 years ago, Congress enacted the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992. Enacted in the wake of Oliver Stone’s movie JFK, which posited that the Kennedy assassination was a regime-change operation on the part of the U.S. national-security establishment, the law mandated that all the assassination-related records of the Pentagon, the CIA, the Secret Service, the FBI, and other federal agencies be released to the public. Having succeeded in keeping their assassination-related records secret for almost 30 years, they didn’t like that at all. Today -- more than 60 years after the assassination -- the CIA continues to keep thousands of its assassination-related records secret. Its justification? You guessed it: “national security,” the two most powerful and meaningless words in the American political lexicon. CIA officials maintain, with straight faces, that if those still-secret assassination-related records were released, the United States would fall into the ocean, be taken over by communists, or ...

An Excellent JFK Conference

by
Two weeks ago, I attended an excellent conference on the Kennedy assassination that was sponsored by the Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Cyril H. Wecht, who is now in his 90s, is one of the country’s most renowned forensics pathologists. For decades, he has courteously and heroically stood squarely against the conclusions set forth by the Warren Commission as well as the conclusions arising out of the autopsy that the national-security establishment conducted on President Kennedy’s body on the evening of the assassination.  Both Cyril and his son Ben ran an absolutely excellent conference, in partnership with another great organization, the Citizens Against Political Assassinations or CAPA. The last time the Wecht Institute held a JFK assassination-related conference was ten years ago, which I also attended. That was where I first saw Oliver Stone in person (who later spoke at two FFF conferences). I ...

The Darkly Brilliant and Ingenious Aspects of the Kennedy Assassination

by
There were two darkly brilliant and ingenious aspects of the national-security establishment’s assassination of President John F. Kennedy sixty years ago today — November 22, 1963. The brilliant part was framing a "communist" or, to be more accurate, a government agent whose job it was to appear as a communist.  Why was that brilliant? Because this was at the height of the national-security establishment’s Cold War racket, when Americans were deeply indoctrinated to hate everything and everyone who was even tangentially related to communists or communism.  Thus, the plotters knew that once it was established that the person who was being accused of the assassination was a “communist,” no one would dare come to his defense, given that any such person would immediately be smeared as a “communist lover” or a “communist sympathizer.”  That’s why it was so essential to develop Lee Harvey Oswald’s legend as a “communist” in the months leading up to the ...
